San Diego is well known on a national basis for it’s amazing nightlife. With such a varied array of citizens within the county and a steady flow of out of state visitors, a seemingly never-ending variety of bars has sprouted. Throughout the San Diego area, you can find a bar to fit every style, personality and mood. One of the most prestigious San Diego nightlife hotspots is the Gaslamp Quarter district, situated in the heart of downtown. A stroll down Market Street alone will provide what seems to be a bar suited for every unique taste. Throughout the neighborhood you will find dive bars next to old Irish pubs across the street from rock-n-roll style lounges. There are even a few noted karaoke bars for those in the mood to sing with friends. Most restaurants located in the area will also turn their accommodations into a bar setting once the sun goes down. Bars in the Gaslamp Quarter are situated in close range, meaning you can change your scenery to fit the evening’s mood in the blink of an eye. What makes the Gaslamp district a destination spot for locals and tourists alike is it’s diverse bar and nightlife scene. Another major San Diego neighborhood that comes alive at night is Pacific Beach. Located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, the area known as “PB” is laced with local and tourist watering holes. Pacific Beach provides a bar for everyone including the typical beach bar, upscale lounge, tavern, beer-only locations and local favorite hole-in-the-wall establishments. You will also find a multitude of sports bars to watch your favorite sports team play both day and evening games. Many college students in San Diego can be found in the bars located on Garnet, which is the main drag of Pacific Beach. The central location of the area makes bar-hopping a popular night time, and even day time, activity for many who love the laid back atmosphere of the little beach community. Many other neighborhoods in San Diego are well known for their selection of bars, as well. Areas such as Little Italy, Kensington, Hillcrest and even the north county communities of Carlsbad and La Jolla have established a reputation for providing exciting bar environments in San Diego County. Local favorites include establishments that have graced the county for almost as long as the area has been founded. Other, newer bars continue to open up and make a name for themselves on a regular basis, as well. The San Diego nightlight offers a different flavor for anyone seeking a night out on the town. There is a multitude of styles, sounds and sights to be found all over San Diego and the city known for its night time vibe is the perfect place to spend a night out at one of its famous (or infamous) bars.
