In Fear and Faith officially formed out of Oceanside, CA. Guitarist Ramin Niroomand, drummer Mehdi Niroomand and bassist Tyler McElhaney began the project in early 2006 before completing the band’s first lineup later that year. After a few new member additions and exists, the band now consists of the three founding players as well as Noah Slifka (formally of San Diego band Chapter 14) on guitar with Cody Anderson and Scott Barnes performing vocals.
From the start, In Fear and Faith obtained a broad local fan base. The band performed locally at venues around San Diego, including Soma, which is the county’s most popular all-ages destination for shows. The group’s initial success is derived from San Diego supporters as well as the ever-growing fan base they’ve acquired on Myspace.com. In August of 2007, In Fear and Faith landed a national tour, taking them all throughout the United States. The band continues to tour on a regular basis, which has gained them an immense nation-wide following. With their music consisting of heavy bass pedal work, pristine guitar riffs, intricate piano melodies and infused with electronic elements, In Fear and Faith has developed a technical sound that has undeniably emerged from raw talent. Paired with the contrasting vocal stylings of Cody and Scott, the band has created a fresh addition to the music scene. Everyone in the group credits their unique sound to the fact that each member has their own musical taste, citing a wide variety of other bands as their main influences.
Realizing they had a demand from fans to release their music, In Fear and Faith decided to produce their own EP. After collectively fronting all expenses for the project, the band’s EP, Voyage, was released at the close of 2007. The EP has sold over 10,000 copies with that number continuing to grow. As the group gained national recognition, they began to receive interest from various independent record labels. In Fear and Faith decided to join forces with Rise Records to put forth their first full-length CD. The band recently spent 3 weeks in a Florida based studio with producer Andrew Wade to write and finalize recordings for Your World On Fire, set to release nation-wide January 6, 2009.
The band has gained a notable reputation for maintaining personal relationships with their fans and fellow musicians. You will often find all of the guys behind the merchandise counter at various points during their shows. They all make a point to talk to their fans, sign autographs and take pictures, regardless of how hectic their night may be. Fans of Underoath, Atreyu and Saosin will find elements of their work in In Fear and Faith’s upcoming full-length debut. However, Your World on Fire infuses bold and unexpected musical fundamentals that truly set the band apart from other groups in their genre.
